My wife does various crafts.  She has made Beaded things, Rock Animals, Rock Houses & Temari.  The rock animals and houses are rocks painted to look like those things.  They really are rocks and tend to be heavy.

Well, now that I've gotten the basics of this working a bit, I need to get back to some writing.  Speaking of writing, I had the idea that I might write a story for this site.  My wife thinks I should write for publication only.  She thinks people would steal my stuff from my website and publish it themselves.

Frankly, I have that same concern.  I need a way to prevent selecting and copying from a webpage.  I need a way to prevent others from viewing the source code of the page.  I need a way to prevent the Save As and Ctrl-C from working.

Yes, I know I could always use a window with no menu bar, no navigation bar and no status bar and no location bar.  But I've always found that annoying when I've visited a site that did that.  Surely there's a better way?

I found a place to host my site.  Worldzone.

I still have not found a host for this site that I've been working on.  I've also been thinking about trying to find something that I could use as a logo.  If I could draw, I'd draw a profile silouette of a wolf howling at the moon.  Then if I could get the image in Xara 3D I could make a button or something and use that as my logo.  Maybe even get it trademarked.  I wonder how much it costs to trademark something?

I have to do something besides play with Xara 3D!  So, I have added a graphic to this page at the top.  It says, "wolfegar.com" but in 3D.  I limited the number loops to 5 to a) cut down on file size and; b) to cut down on the annoyance factor.

Note graphic  The folks at Xara.com have a number of products that you may wish to check out.  The "New" and "Note" graphics that I used here were also made with Xara 3D.  Then they were saved as both a Xara 3D graphic and then as a gif.  The gifs were used here, but if I want to make a new version, I can edit the X3D file to try out different lighting techniques.  There are three light sources and one shadow source.  Each can have its own color.  Each can also be aimed from a different direction.

You can even save your animated images as a screensaver!

I really have to buy Xara 3D.  I really do.  I went online and while the Xara 3D demo was running, I clicked the buy button in the start dialog.  It took me right to the page where I could purchase the full program.  While I'm waiting for my package with the CD and manual to arrive, I took the opportunity to download the full version so that I could reload the X3D graphics I'd already made so that I could then resave them as gifs without the 'demo' background.

Found this cool program called, Xara 3D.  I downloaded the demo to try out.  It lets you make 3D titles.  All you have to do is replace the default Xara 3D text with your own and select your animation.  I have to play with this.

Made a page for my other domain.  So far, it's essentially the same as this page except for the background color.

Found a couple javascript thingies I like.  So there will be a few frills after all.  ;-)

Wednesday, August 14, 2002
This is basically a no extraneous frills website.  I have no intention of putting anything here that I don't think I'd like.  Everybody does cgi and java applets and javascripts.

One of the things I just have to put on my website pages is the Grammar Peeves.  Far too many people seem to be switching the meanings of words around.  Like Effect and Affect.  These words are not interchangable.  Neither are the words Then and Than.

People are also misusing the words Two, To and Too.

I believe this is laziness on the part of the mis-users of these words.  If a person does not know what a word means or how it should be used then the person is obligated to look it up if that person intends to make use of the word.

(I also need something to work with as I develop this site so I'll just type some stuff and see what happens.  I'll end up with some measure of miscellaneous content of some sort.)

Some point in time before I made this page.
I kind of miss having my own website, even though I didn't update it very often.  I think HTML was version one point something or two point something back then.

Now I have two domains and need someplace to point them to.

My wife does various crafts.  She has made Beaded things, Rock Animals, Rock Houses & Temari.  The rock animals and houses are rocks painted to look like those things.  They are really rocks and tend to be heavy.  She has said that she'd like to sell some this stuff, so, I guess that's another incentive for me to set up a website of some sort.

I...uhm...don't think I'm ready for email yet.    ;-)

Grammar Peeves:

Two, To and Too are not interchangable.  You would not believe how many so called professional authors, web and otherwise, are misusing these words.
The same goes for There, Their, and They're.
