Thumbs up The Last Airbender

We just got back from seeing The Last Airbender, the movie based on the anime Avatar: The Last Airbender.

It was fantastic! (Kind of makes one want to learn tai chi. Thinking of you, Birgit. I don't think I can though.) Looks like they tried to compress the entirety of Book One: Water into the movie. Anyway, the end of the movie seems to imply that there will be a sequel. I hope so.

It this first movie was the entire Book One: Water, then the next movie will probably be Book Two: Earth. Then the third movie can be Book Three: Fire.

I believe we've seen all of Book One since we actually had the DVDs for those. We probably saw most of Book Two on television but I don't think we saw all of Book Three. At some point they weren't airing them anymore.

A month or two ago I'd purchased the rest of the DVDs on Amazon and now that we've seen the movie, we can watch the DVDs.

I cant wait to see the next movie, sure hope they will make the 2 sequels. The anime was very good. I am not a huge anime fan either. Nice story and well thought out mythos and world. I too want to learn tai chi.

Isn't released in our part of the UK until 13th. August, then only in 3D.

Will go see when it is out.

We did not see it in 3D as I wasn't going to pay double plus extra. Besides, I'd have had to sit with one hand holding the 3D glasses on during the whole movie and I didn't want to do that either.

They do not appear to be offering the 2D at the moment. Not happy at having to pay out more either, so may end up not going at all I am not very happy at having to use the glasses as I were specs all the time and am not sure how it would work with two pairs of glasses on

I've worn glasses since I six or seven years old. Put on your normal glasses then put on a pair of regular sunglasses. That would probably be close.

Rikewoo just wear the D3 ones in front of your normal glasses - it's a bit awkward but it works (I did that with the last 3D film Avatar some months ago)

Wolfie, this article in Wikipedia sounds as if there are more to come, doesn't it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Airbender
It does mention a trilogy.
I'd love to read this as a book - any idea if that might be a possibility?

Tanje I love Tai-Chi too - and it IS a defensive martial art. You can read up on it here:

Thank you rikewoo!
And as I am wearing vari-focal lenses too, I can confirm they do work - just a bit awkward if your nose is not really long enough to carry 2 pairs of glasses you might have to tilt your head slightly.
