I was in the chat from 4:38 or :39 or so and I logged out at around 8:20pm-ish.

I saw no one in the room. If any one showed up during that time period, let me know. There's a bug somewhere.

I sat there talking to myself last evening.
Then had the pleasure of conversing with Wolfegar this morning!

I had a word with myself yesterday to see how it worked. Hopefully we might work out a time to suit all of us sometime.

The Chat was dropping me out of the room and not even printing a message that it had done so. If the reason why is what I think it was, then I think I might have fixed it.

Oh, PreKHarperSis, when you were in last night, I thought I was still in the chat room all by myself. What I didn't know was, I'd been kicked out. To me, I looked like I was still in the Chat room.

I'd had room logging turned of for that room and I saw when you were there.

Only those AMs should be PMs.

Okay. I've been in the room for over an hour and I haven't been dropped from it. I think I fixed that, anyway.

I still don't know how to allow guests to enter the Chat room without registering. Which would, of course, mean that they aren't guests. :roll:

After my adjustment, and after I was in the room for a while, I logged out.

I refreshed the Rooms List window and it still showed me in there!

So, I changed the Idle Time from 12 hours to a half an hour. (I think. It's in seconds. 1,800 seconds.)

So, if you just happen to log in and see Old Wolf and Wolfegar in there, don't mess with them. If you kick me out, you might end up banning me. Those two are the only Admins.

Of course, if you talk to them and one talks back...maybe I'm awake?

I logged into your chat at 13:10 my time! This is the first ever chat that the Uni 'puters allow me to access! :bouncy: :bouncy: I LOVE it!

So naturally I spent some time talking to myself...just to see what it was like!

The guy that wrote the chat script is unavailable until the 27th or something, so posting any more than I already have on his forum would be fairly pointless at the moment.

Still, we can do some things for testing the chat.

I have reason to believe that even if you are in the chat room and chatting away, after a time you will be dropped out of the room.

So, if anyone has time, here's what I'd like you to do.

Log into the chat. After the window opens and the chat loads, click on Room List. Move that window to one side. Chat along in the chat window. Periodically, right click in the Room List window to reload it. Watch and see if you remain in the room or get booted out.

The Chat room window, will not indicate that you've been dropped from the chat. It will look like you're still in the room.

The Room List, if you're the only one in the room, will display 1/50. When it shows 0/50 then you're not really in the Chat anymore. You can rejoin the Chat by clicking on the room again in the Room List window. Unfortunately, that opens yet another window. You can close the original window.

I need to know if anyone else experiences this same thing or if it's just me.

You may want to note the start time when you enter chat and the time when you get booted out.

Even the room log does not indicate when someone is booted because of this.

Did you know that the Chat has a calendar? I can set events on it.

I don't very often see other people online when I am :(, although there is an anonymous user today <_< , but it was nice to have a wee chat to Prek and I am looking forward to others.

Okay. During our chat I got bumped out of the room twice. The second time I re-joined the room, was just in time to get WR's good-bye message.

There was no apparent indication on my end that I was out of the room, except that time seemed to go by with no postings from WR. I think you, WRSis, did see my chat posts?

We did manage a nice chat though. Kind of. Sporadic though it ended up being.

No, you just disappeared from the conversation, and after a while I thought you must have been bumped out again. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

WRSis, what browser and version where you using? Are you on Dial-up or DSL or what?

I'm on dial-up, as I can't justify spending t wice that amount for broadband.

What do you click to go on the internet? That funny-looking E for Internet Explorer? Perhaps Netscape or Firefox?

As to version, that's a little harder, but right-click on the icon use and check properties.

Yes, thank you, it's Explorer, and it is playing up at present. I have run all the diagnostic stuff I know but it hasn't fixed it ... it's more or less fine until I go to close the window and it jams and nothing will turn off or change, and I have to turn the computer off at the power source, which can't be good for it. Sigh. It means the computer will have to leave the house for a day :cry: and I don't know how I'll cope. :dunno:

I know the feeling: my computer is doing some weird thing where every few days I must start it with a system restore. I should get it fixed, but keep telling myself that I can't because I need it for class. Really.

My problem with that is, it periodically kicks me out of the chat, (though, not the chat admin), without letting me know that no one is seeing my chattiness and it seems as if I'm still in the chat.

Very annoying. Especially as everybody else seems to think I'm still in the room at the time.
