I and my fiance got married yesterday! :twohearts:

A small wedding at the registry office for our immediate families followed by a reception at home. Catering was provided at cost by a local cookery school. Just the way both of us wanted it, my husband didn't like the idea of a big party, and I didn't feel like organizing one, and I didn't really want one either.

The ceremony was really warm and friendly, not at all rushed. It was obvious that the officiating judge enjoyed her job, and that made our special day even more special.

I'm well into the third trimester of my pregnancy, and while we wanted to get married before the birth of our child, partly to avoid the hassle with proving paternity, I'm very happy with our small wedding. I never wore an engagement ring because my husband wanted to avoid some of his friends organizing a stag night for him (he doesn't like being the center of attention, and even when attending stag nights for friends he'll leave early), and while his friends are nice people, some of them wouldn't take no for an answer. So he preferred to take no risks.

Now I have a double ring, one part is white gold with 7 small diamonds, the other is a plain yellow gold band. So it looks like I'm wearing two rings when it's really only one. I love it!

No honeymoon at this time, maybe we'll go for our 5th wedding anniversary when our child will be old enough to be left with the grandparents for a week or so... Or maybe not.

Thanks for the congrats! I hope it was an auspicious date, our wedding day was also the vernal equinox. My parents' wedding day was on autumnal equinox, and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last year.

Congrats, Granath!

As to the date, can't say much for its luck since it was the same date as my anniversary for my ex-marriage.

Many congratulations to you both and I hope all goes well with the coming 'small' event also

I well understand you wanting a quiet wedding, I got what I wanted for a ceremony the 2nd time around, first was dictated by parents and I wasn't strong enough to gainsay them.

May you only need the once ;) and spend many happy years together.

Thanks Keruval!

I hope no parents here with kids who are old enough to get married would dream of interfering with their children's plans. Even if you pay for the party, they're the ones who're getting married. And IMO financially independent children should refuse point blank to accept any money from their parents, at least if it comes with strings attached.

That is a really lovely ring and very unusual too I suspect. I see what you mean about it looking like it is two rings. If you hadn't told us, I'd have assumed it was two pushed together.

And that's sort of the idea. Here engagement rings tend to be plain gold bands whereas wedding rings can be as flashy as you like. I've seen women with this kind of ring wearing a plain yellow gold engagement ring in addition so that it looks like a sandwich with the diamonds in the middle. But my fingers aren't long enough for that, now it just looks like I'm wearing a wedding ring and an engagement ring.
