... Taken on my new camera!

It's wonderful, no finger or hand or wrist pains and it's light enough that I can hold, not too light that I get the jitters bad!

I love the ship in the pics. She is called the J. R. Tolkien!
We took pics of her and were walking away when I heard a squeal. I knew that noise! I hear it every day! In a crack in the pavement were a pair of young rats squabbling about a bit of food. So I got a pic of one of their bums...
The other pics, the cormorants on the rock and the swan and plane... Taken at max zoom of 19.1x at 1MP and they were aaaaages away! The clock tower is 3 and a half hours from where we were stood and you can see the time on the pic!!

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v509/caz...22/RandomStuff/

I also got me some new pics of the horde. My fave one is this one:
Attached Image

The first 18 pics in this album are new.

Walked about 2 miles today that I ain't used to and my knees are complaining. I'ma get fit at last, all thanks to you Rikewoo! *giggles*

Thanks SO much. I'm so in love lol.

Mayhem,
I am very impressed with what you have taken on your first outing with the camera.
:good:
The resolution with some of your rats is excellent, and with the boat and flying birds first class

Remember that as you go down in resolution you will lose some definition in the photo, also as you extend the zoom you need a faster shutter speed to compensate for camera shake. But for first time using a new tool, you have done exceedingly well. Keep it up. All this I am assuming on Auto, just think what you will achieve when you go to aperture priority and then some. :purplebouncy:

Can see you really are going to enjoy the camera as I did

Thanks all!

Rikewoo, I love this camera... I have played with arpeture and shutter seed last night and may well be off out later (if it stops raining) to go test what I've learned! I think you are right about me enjoying this camera *Grins*
The airshow pics are gonna be awesome this year *dances*

Uncle Wolfie, Birgit... I'm so glad someone appreciated Jabbarat as much as I did!

Jaxie, that's all up Tynemouth. The castle is Tynemouth Priory :D

The Tolkien was wonderful! We were about 200 meters from it, and with the zoom you could see the people! I kinda figgered you'd not like the rat pics so much Mary ;)

You have taken some really good pics there Mayhem! :good: I think my favourites are two of the rat ones. The rat in the middle of the top row. Both through the bars and not I love the rats face, so inquisitive and looking right at the camera. What is her / his name?

Tanje... Cos... I think I love you heehee
The rat pics are my faves as well ;)

The rat in question is Messoria, aka Mezzy. All the rats are totally in love with the camera but she was/is obsessed. She'll sit like that for hours watching it if I take pics. I think she sees how good it is and just wants to be immortalised!

Beats the others who just wanna eat it...

No pic trip today cos till an hour ago it was grey and ick. I could go get some pics of the actual swamp in my garden caused my upstairs' overflow that the council won't fix...

:bouncy: Doesn't having a camera really open up your eyes :). Doing good there, Mayhem :good: . And even if you don't have your camera with you you look at things more thoroughly. I love cameras.

And some from today!
I don't like the noise that appeared, I dunno what did that. Taken for the most part with shutter priority set.

One of my fave pics (asides from the wild rats lol) is this one:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/caz...ge/P1000631.jpg

Not imging it cos I had to upload full size to photobucket cos it pixelated them when it shrunk em to forum size.

Anyways, my random stuff large folder lol:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v509/caz...fLarge/?start=0

I also love the seagulls :D

Hi Mayhem

I have sent you a PM about why you are experiencing some problems with the photos :good: Also see you are getting some sun flare in some photos are you using the lens-hood?

All in all a lot of very good photos, showing a lot of ability in a wide range of subjects. :good:

All advice read, re read and I'm JUST about starting to understand it all!
Having done this, I started taking pics in Shutter priority and I am posting here the reason why this camera is the best thing I ever owned.

How wonderful is this pic?!

Deimos would like to say hi lol

Great photos mayhem. You are learning, set the shutter speed and the camera sets the aperture :good: The other way to control the speed as well is to change the ISO to a higher one if the shutter speed is still too slow for what you want.

And my new fave pic.
Normally I'd delete stuff I don't see as perfect, but this one is different. The leaves just bring out the background somehow. I adore it! Very artsy and so unlike anything i'd normally like lol. Linking as I refuse to shrink it

Looking at the size of the photo, 1280 x 960,I think you have gone down to possibly 3mp. What has happened here is that the camera has focused on the foreground and put the background out of focus.

If you select spot focusing from the menu, it will only put the focus where you want it to go.

It is still a very good clear photo and photography is about using your imagination to see what happens when you do different things. As you say it is a little bit artsy B) Just think what Tracey Emin and Damien Hearsch get away with and get paid thousands for

*grins* Thanks for the input!
It's set to 5mp but photobucket only allows up to 1mb upload per pic for me so they all get shrunk down... Gets annoying at times lol.

It was just a random shot on automatic cos I was just playing about, quite pleased with it tho for all that lol.

I have some cracking ones of the elephants and some other animals and I now have a seagull, rat, pidgeon and emu yawn to put into my yawn album when I make it. Now to find the time to upload em all!

That's the problem with auto  The camera chooses what is in the center of the frame and focuses on that

But a good photo anyway, plenty of detail in the leaves with nice back lighting as well. The camera has chosen the right aperture and speed, as it is not over/under exposed. :good:

I dunno which I'm prouder of, the macro mode or the model!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/caz...ge/c2d3dbf3.jpg

Took me about an hour to trim, glue and set this. First of 20, then they get painted! Gonna take ages specially as most of em have one foot that isn't moulder properly and I have to carve them toes! As they are under a cm long the foot takes some working on *Twitch*
The whole model stands around an inch and a half tall!

Clanrat #1 of my soon to be Skaven battalion!
